What A Home Is To Me

A home isn’t just a house, it’s more than that, it’s a feeling, a prophecy, a state of mind. A home is where family laughs, friends gather, and memories are made. But for lots of people a home, isn’t something they take for granted. To lots of people a home can be in a car, on the move, or even on the streets. That may mean they do not have a house but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a home. A home to me is a special place where I always feel welcome and safe. No matter the day I’ve had, I know that when I come home there’s a family there I can count on. Sure home’s can be full to the brim with crazy, but it wouldn’t be normal without that crazy feeling of, well craziness. I mean don’t get me wrong when the craziness overflows over that brim, it’s pretty frustrating. But when you overcome that frustration the whole house is so happy. And that feeling of when the entire house is soaring, that’s probably the best feeling there is. If you think of friends or family whose whole house is shaking with rage, or ones who’ve lost some loved ones along the way, it makes you think. It puts tears in your eyes and gratefulness in your heart that that’s not you and your family. To think that one day you're playing board games, watching movies or laughing at jokes with your dad, and the next day he’s gone. The feeling that you’ve just lost everything in one second, no one should ever have to feel that way. But the worst thing ever would be the last day together if you got in a big fight or said some awful things to them, that’s something you can’t shake, or ever forget about. But that’s when your family, your friends, your home, is always there for you, that’s something that will always be there with you through thick and thin. And that is what a home is to me.
