What Home Means to Me

Home is where the heart is. This year all of us have had to spend more time at home. As we stay home to keep safe, I have realized that home is not a place, it is a feeling. In our homes, we are protected and safe. The warmth of a bed, a home-cooked meal, a brother to boss around and parents who love me are all things I love about my home. My home is my comfort zone. No matter how I am feeling, at home, I can be myself. No one judges me in the mornings when I drag myself out of bed totally disheveled. No one comments on my bathroom singing which admittedly is not so in tune. I am relaxed when I am at home and amongst my loved ones. My home also brings me happiness. My home has given me great memories which I treasure. One of my greatest memories was when I was surprised with a puppy. My parents really shocked me with the newest and cutest addition to our family, Cali. My home also brings my family together. At dinner, my family and I always laugh, share stories, and enjoy a meal. This year, especially, I have realized that I should appreciate my home. Although being at home can be a bit much sometimes, not everyone has a safe place to live. Many people in this world are struggling to stay safe. I am blessed to have my home. Overall, I have realized that I cannot sum up what home means to me in one simple word because it has so many different meanings to me. My home is my comfort zone, where I am happy and safe, and the place where I have made and hope to continue making great memories.
