Home

I unlock the door and walk inside, the fresh smell of my mom's new candle, apples and cinnamon. I go upstairs and clean my room. I touch the roof as I stretch. I stop for a moment and think, what if I didn't have this roof? I continue on and speed run down the stairs. I give my brother a hug and he pushes me away. I laugh and run down to the basement. I asked my mom, "What's for dinner?" She says a chicken with mashed potatoes. My stomach growls as I get more hungry, a new scent fills up the room, chicken and mashed potatoes. I go back up the stairs and flop on our soft sofa. My cat comes to cuddle on the couch. I stare at our beautiful living room, my mom yells, "Dinner!" I race my brother downstairs. I sit down and eat my food. I rush upstairs and now I'm writing this. I stare at the words, What does home mean to you? If I could explain home with only three things I would say Family, Food, and a roof over my head. Family doesn't need to be by blood, you just need people that care about you. The food doesn't have to be a rich food, it just has to be food. The roof doesn't have to be so big it can be really small as long as I'm under it. I hope this will give somebody a home so they know how it feels. So they know the feeling of coming home to a nice cooked meal or a nice warm bed to lay in every night. They have no food, no water, no bed, and no home. So please give them a home.
