What Home Means to Me

Home means many different things to me. It means the comfort of my warm cozy bed. Home means my cats purring on the couch. It means my family is there for me when I'm sad. My home is where I can escape it all. Home is my warm, cozy, soft bed. If I come back from a long walk all stiff and tired, I can sink into my lovely blanket and drift off to the realm of dreams. My soft comforter envelopes me and I slowly drift into a deep state of calm. I know that I'm home when my cat, Sparkle jumps up on my bed in the morning and settles in her special spot next to my head. Or when I find Chloe asleep on my blanket. It cheers me up immensely to hear Sparkle murp and Chloe squeak, demanding food. And as long as I can hear the sound of Sparkle purring I know that everything is going to be alright in the end. When I’m sad, lost in a cold, gray world of misery, I can always find light in the shape of home. My mom telling me it’ll be alright, my brother cheering me up by being downright hilarious and my dad’s huge collection of Calvin and Hobbes. My family all have their different ways of comforting me, however, all their methods make me smile. I can always find an out-of-the-way place when I am home. Maybe a ledge, where I can sit and write poems or stories without being disturbed. Or a spot in the forest behind my cottage where I can sit back and enjoy nature’s beauty. Anywhere where I can escape the flow of life and have some alone time is home. Home means many different things to me. Home is wonderful!
