What Home Means To Me

Home is family, food, and my own space. It’s being with people who love me. It’s warm food on the table. It’s a place where I feel safe and happy. When I think of home, I think of family. My mom is always there for me. My dad teaches me how to fix things and takes me hunting. He works hard so he can provide for us. He pushes me to my limits to accomplish something challenging. My brother plays with me and jokes around. My grandparents love spending time with me. We always have adventures when we go camping and golfing together. My family feels like home. Food on the table makes me feel happy and safe. The warm, sizzling food from the barbecue or oven that's put on our plates. The delicious dessert lying on the counters for after supper. Late nights turning into pizza or McDonalds on weekends and school nights. The popcorn and sweet treats on movie nights. The food we haven't had in awhile makes me excited to taste it again. I’m home when my belly is full. What feels like home is a safe, warm space. A place in my house where I can just lie down and relax. It’s a place where I can be by myself when I'm upset or angry. It’s a place where I can read quietly and do homework, or create something I’ve never made before. Home is a safe place. Home can mean lots of things to other people, but for me, nothing can be better than family, food, and my own space. Home is the people I love, the food that fills me, and a warm, safe place to live. I love my home and nothing can change that.
