Meaning of Home

Home is where you feel your best. It’s where the people there fill you up when you’re feeling low. Home doesn’t have to be a specific town, city or place. Home is where my family and loved ones are. Home to me is love, family and belonging. When I'm shown love, it makes me feel safe and meaningful. Love is a feeling like no other. It’s where someone’s actions or words make you feel like you’re important. My mom shows me love when we cuddle up together with a fluffy blanket and drink tea. My sister shows me love when we read to each other and giggle together. Love is a strong binding feeling in our home. I feel loved everyday. Home is where my loved ones are. When I'm with family, I feel accepted. They make me feel like I matter. They believe in me like no one else. They are always here for me. Home is where family is together. A home is where families have special moments and build memories. Home is a place where we have special gatherings that we will always remember. When you’re with family you’re at home. For me, belonging means not only being accepted for who I am but also having a space that I can call my own. When I step through the door of my house after a long day or week, I feel a sense of relief. I know that I have a comfortable space where I can relax, have fun or get creative. To me, belonging is a feeling of peace. This is why my home is my haven. Belonging is more than being loved by my family. Belonging also means having a space where I can grow and be happy. Habitat for Humanity not only gives you a house made of walls and beams but they give you a home made of love and dreams.
