My Beloved Home

My home means so much to me. It didn’t just give me shelter. Home is a place where I learned how to walk, talk and play, and gives me a sense of belonging, safety, and confidence. It is even where I said my first word! When I come home, I am welcomed with the smells of food, the feeling of warmth, the sight of family, and the sounds of joy. Home is where I find my true and genuine self and home supports and uplifts me whenever I need it. This makes me think about those who don’t have a home. It must be so hard to not have somewhere you belong, can stay, and feel welcome. It is a beautiful thing that Habitat for Humanity is helping kids that might even be my age have a loving and caring home. A home will mean so much to someone who hasn’t had one for years! I am extremely thankful to have a welcoming home and I will never take it for granted.
