What Home Means to Me

Home means a lot to me. But the way I feel about home might not be the way others feel about home. Home for me is a safe and healthy place to be. With my parents guiding me to where I need to be. Home isn’t just the house I live in. For me it’s also the people I'm with. I wouldn’t feel the same without living with my nana, mom, dad, sister, and my cat, Shade. They are a part of the joy I have. I am so very grateful to have a roof over my head, and food on my plate. Just thinking about all the rooms in my house. I can think of something meaningful to me about all of them. My bedroom where I rest my head every night. The kitchen where my parents put food on my plate. I will tell you the kitchen is definitely the best smelling room in the house. The backyard is where my family and I play or plant seeds. In the summer we play in the sprinkler. We also love to barbecue and have dinners outside. The living room is the place where we sit, enjoying each other's company while maybe watching a show or playing a game. In my basement is where my nana stays. The older she gets, the more I want to spend time with her. Just seeing my house makes me smile. I get a warm feeling stepping into my house. My neighbourhood is also a part of my home. I have friends on my street. I love playing with them, and coming home . Even after a nice vacation, I look forward to stepping into the comfort of my own home. This is really what home means to me!
