House and home are not just synonyms
A home and a house sound just like synonyms but they have different meanings. My house is built up by bricks, wood, and glass but my home is built by my family, my memories, and the love that everyone I know gives each other. When I think about my house I think of the beautiful house made of bricks, placed right on top of a hill next to the lake. When I think of my home, I think of much more than just a building.
I moved to my new house on the lake when I was just in grade two. I remember being scared to leave the home I had made so many memories with my family, pets, and friends in Waterloo. Now I realized that you could make any house a home with memories and family.
My room is one of my safe places in my house. My room is small, quiet, and I can decorate it and make memories in there to make it my home. As soon as I get home, I always go to my room. My room reminds me of the many memories I have in it. My most significant memories are the ones I made with my friends and family like me and my friends playing pretend or making art and ending up with marker and pencil crayon on my fingers.
My family is a big part of my home. The love that my family has gave me is one of the biggest things that made our home. With my sister, we both like to make cosplays, art, and talk about our favorite books and even the languages we're learning! When I go out of my room near dinner time, I can smell the dinner that my mom and dad our making and then when I smell those in public, it immediately reminds me of home.
Sure, me and my family members get fights sometimes, but we always make sure we make up and all is forgiven after. Home to me can also be people, such as my family, my friends, or the most impactful one is my life, my girlfriend. They all make sure I'm loved and protected.
I believe everyone deserves a place to make a home.
Thank you habitat for humanity for giving people the chance to make a home.
