My Idea of Home
My Idea of Home
Home in the dictionary is described as ‘where you live or belong’, but is it really what a book calls it? Home is where we find peace. Home is where we play from dawn ‘till dusk. Home is where you can put your feet up and feel comfortable. What’s your dictionary worthy definition of 'home'?
Home. For me home is the sound of laughter and song. The warm embrace of a hug after something tragic. The taste of the special family recipe of soup on a cold winter day. The smile on my sisters face on Christmas morning. Why does your home matter to you?
Home. Home isn’t just ‘a place’. Home can be the people you want to spend your time with. Home can be the drawing you made of your family when you were 5. Home can be the memories of a special loved one who unfortunately passed away. Home can be the place where you go when it’s brutal out there. What makes your home unique to you?
Everyone deserves a place like this, but unfortunately not everyone has one. To be precise, 1 in 8 Canadian households don’t have a safe, decent, affordable, nor comfortable place to go when they need it. However, there is a special organization assisting many people who need a home. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps families in need, to build and buy their own special homes. You can also help the cause! By entering the contest, $10 is being donated on your behalf to your local Habitat for Humanity. Why is having a home so important?
