Habitat Homes

Habitat for Humanity is a global non-profit organization that was founded in 1976. They are assisting in communities in the United States, Canada and over 70 countries around the world. Habitat for Humanity builds, rehabilitates, and repairs homes. I think Habitat for Humanity homes are important for our community because they provide safe and affordable housing for families in need. It encourages families to be independent, have stability and give families the opportunity to thrive. I think that it is amazing that in 2024, 14 families were assisted with furniture donations, 6 families we able to move into their new homes (21 people, 11 are children), and 30 families continued owning their homes with a 0% interest mortgage. The work that Habitat for Humanity does is an effective response to Canada's housing crisis, as it helps build a healthier, more inclusive Canada for generations to come.
