Home Isn't Just Where You Live

Home isn't just where you live; it's where you hear the satisfying sizzle of mouth-watering food on the stove. Demolishing delicious food in the dining room talking about your day, and telling stories. The living room is like The Rec Room, where we play board games, play video games, and make Lego. Our bedrooms are as comfortable as a 5-star lounge where we relax, read books, sleep, and study. Meanwhile, rain hits the windows with a satisfying sound like gentle drumming or snow falls, covering the world around you. One of our rooms is dedicated to doing prayers, making me feel like Guru Gobind Singh ji (10th Sikh Guru) is sitting beside us doing prayers. Having Gurbani (hymn) players playing Gurbani in my ears 24/7 enlightens my day. Our backyard is like a sports arena where my cousins and I play soccer, tag, and badminton enjoying our lives. Our basement is like a movie theater where we watch movies and munch on snacks like popcorn, and chips while chugging Canada Dry. Think of the time when it was COVID-19. Didn't you spend time with your family? I think that's what you should do every day at home with your family. Think of your home where you push past your families' mistakes together. Think of your home where big dreams kick off. Think of your home where you feel most comfortable and most loved. Think of the things inside your home that money cannot buy like love, laughter, and happiness. A house is built of bricks, but a home is built from the people we love, the places that shaped us, and the lifelong memories we’ve made along the way. For me, home isn't just where you live. It's a place where family bonds happen. A place where family: Thrives. Together.
