Meaning of Home

Many people think that home is just a place, but I think it is also a feeling. There is no other feeling that is similar to home. Home is special, whereas a house is just a building. Home is a place where knowledge grows, laughter is heard, joy, and happiness are felt. Home also somewhat smells special and unique. It smells like a hint of the sweetness of the matcha cookies my mom bakes. It feels like the fuzziness of my favorite blanket that I like to snuggle in when I am on my warm cozy couch. I enjoy the feeling when the sun hits the chair by the window. Home is exciting and has a sense of belonging. Although houses do provide shelter, it does not feel like belonging. While some houses are still waiting for a little extra love, every home is a place where a family’s story begins. Sometimes, a house is like a big project that isn't quite finished yet. The walls might be a bit thin and the roof might have a few tiny spots where the rain leaks through during a big storm, but those houses are still filled with people who care about each other. Even when the grown-ups are thinking really hard about how to fix the roof or how to make sure there is plenty of yummy food on the table, they are doing it because they love their family so much. They spend their days being brave and strong, looking for ways to turn every little corner into a place that feels soft and warm. They look forward to the day when the walls are thick and strong, the roof is tight and dry, and the floors stay perfectly clean for the kids to play on.
