Home Is My Happy Place

My home is my favorite place in the world. It's a place where all my best memories were made. It's a place where you can be yourself and no one will stop you. A place you can rest, knowing you’re safe and sound. A home can be big or small, but what makes a home a home, is the people who live there. In my home, we have lots of rooms, and we use each one for something different. In my bedroom, I wrap myself in warm, cozy blankets and go to sleep, having sweet dreams. When I wake up, I'm ready to start my day. In the kitchen, I bake cookies with my mom. I splash in a little too much vanilla, but they turn out perfect. My brother and sister scrape the sides of the bowl until there's no dough left. When they come out of the oven, they're too hot to eat yet, so we let them cool for a bit before eating them, so we don’t burn our tongues. At the dinner table, we eat supper as a family. We take turns talking about the best parts of our day. My baby brother always throws his food! In the living room, we have pictures on the walls from when we were younger. We watch movies or play games as a family on the couch. When one of us is sick, they lay there with a bowl, while the rest of us comfort them and get them popsicles. In my basement, we play hide and seek with my cousins. I know all the best hiding spots. I love my home, and I believe that everyone deserves one. I hope that Habitat for Humanity can give everyone one.
