The Meaning of Home
If I didn’t know what home is, then I wouldn’t know love. To me, a home is more than a house with bricks, cement and glass. My mom, dad, brother, two cats and I built our home together with memorable family traditions.
In my home, we can all open up to each other. When I’m having a bad day, I can lay in my bed and my cats comfort me. My mom and dad calm me down when I am feeling overwhelmed, and they encourage me to be my best self.
In my kitchen where the food smells so delicious, I learn new recipes to cook (especially around Christmas time). I can taste my new recipes in the living room while we play our fun games like Uno.
I spend a lot of my time in my basement, practicing self-expression. I practice my dance routines to make sure they are almost perfect for onstage. I look out my basement window and see my big and beautiful backyard. It reminds me of feeding fish in my pond, swimming in my pool in the summertime and doing flips on my trampoline. In the winter when my pond freezes, I skate gracefully.
If I didn’t know what home is, then I wouldn’t know love.
