What Home Means to Me
What is Home?
By Caia McNair
What is home? This answer is different for everyone. It might be a cup
of tea, a walk in the woods, or a mother's warm embrace. To me, home
is love. It is being with my family. It is where my imagination and
memories come to life. It is the feeling of peace.
Home is love. I feel love when I am with my family. I love playing music
with my dad. We play the piano, guitar and sing. I also like to read
with my mum. Sometimes we read our own books side-by-side, other
times she reads to me. Right now she is reading "The Hobbit" to me. I
have a hedgehog named Spiggy who I like to play with too. Though
an animal, she is definitely part of my family.
I feel love whenever my imagination is active and my memories come
to mind. This happens at home. I have my own world called, The
Green Archipelago. In my free time I pretend to go to all the different
islands. Each time my character is different! Sometimes I am a
princess, other times I am a scientist. Using my imagination like this
creates lasting memories of home.
Love is when I am at peace. I feel peace when I am walking in the
woods, sitting in a tree, or reading my book in the backyard.I feel
peace when I am drawing in my room, drinking a nice cup of tea, or
playing the piano. My peace comes in different forms, but all of them
make me feel at home.
At home I feel loved. I feel love from my family, through my
imagination and from the feeling of peace. Home is love.
