HOME
What is home? For me home is my family, and my actual house. But your home might be different.
Maybe, your home isn’t your actual home. It might be the warm touch of your grandma's kisses, or maybe just sitting in the grass, listening to the wind, whistle, howl, swoosh, while blowing through the trees.
You might think in your head right when you see your home
‘I feel safe.” Or “This feels like home…”
Or you might feel the opposite of that, you might think
‘I don’t like this’ or ‘This doesn't feel right’
That’s ok too!
Touch is a big thing for me, to feel at home. Home feels to me like my dog's soft, beautiful, silky fur, my bed the first time I lay in my bed after a long, hardworking day, and most importantly my family's hugs and kisses, especially when I need them most.
What home smells like to me is my dad’s luxurious, stylish cologne, the floral smell of my mom’s shampoo, my sister's strong, smelling paint, my friends loud, weird, laughter that feels contagious. Also, just the smell of my own house. Home might smell to you like sweet, tasty, cookies baking in the oven, or the smell of your favorite sharpie at school.
Not everybody's actual home is safe, or loving. But everybody should have a place to go if you're sad, scared, or worried. Maybe that place is your school, your best friend's house, maybe it’s that person that always makes you feel good even just thinking or talking to them.
The moral of the story is: We travel the world, we chase our dreams, and do things we never thought we would do, but the most important journey is always the one that leads us back to the warmth of home.
