Who you're with

Home is where you are safe, snuggled up in a warm blanket on a frosty winter day. Where you can smell the aroma of the salmon that your dad is cooking. It’s more than a simple piece of wood, brick or metal, it’s a feeling of happiness and belonging. Home can be anywhere, a cold glacier or a wet rainforest. A hot desert or a snowy mountain. As long as you are with the right people, home can be anywhere. If you’re with your uncle, watching a movie and laughing, it’s home. With your aunt, shopping at the mall, it’s home. Running with your dog is home, but so is playing card games with your grandma. Figuring out a hard math equation with your favourite teacher’s help or playing on the playground with your friends is home. Out in the forest, in a cold tent, but surrounded by blankets, and laughter with your family that’s home. Arguing about a petty thing with your brother is home. Chasing your cousins around your house, that’s home. Writing an entry for Habitat for Humanity, your dog curled up by your feet, that’s home. Cherish those moments, where you are safe and loved. Home is where you can laugh and play all day, without a care in the world.
