Home

Home isn’t just a house. Home isn’t just a place where you slept and ate the most delicious meals made by your parents in. Home means much more than that. Home means love. Home means millions of memories. Home means relationships. Home means everything, and it doesn’t have to be in one spot. It can be in different places where you have cherished memories and loved every single moment of it. Home is a place full of people who love you to your bones. Home is a place you’ll always be able to come back to. Home is where you grew up, made friends, and had birthdays that would stick with you forever. Home means the hot feeling of your skin after you come inside from playing in the snow, wrapped up in blankets, sipping comforting hot cocoa. Home means coming inside from the air-conditioned house after a hot summer day and sticking your head in the freezer to cool down. Home is chilling in a pool, floating around on a floatie, and eating freezies, or ice cream. Home is waking up early on Christmas day and rushing out to the brightly decorated tree in the living room. Dozens of presents scattered around it, and you can’t wait to open them. The joy you feel is pulsing through your veins as you tear the wrapping paper off, curiosity of what Santa got you running through your mind. But home can come in many different versions. Some homes aren’t comfortable, full of joy. Some people don’t have the money to create those memories, or a home to even live in. So, I’m grateful to be able to make those memories, and to be able to live my best life. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping people create those wonderful memories.
