Where I'm From

I am from a pink dollhouse From a soft blanket and a snuggly crib I am from a home full of family pictures And full of big and bright windows I am from a garden full of colorful flowers Whose smell dances around me I am from a toy box and a toy kitchen From Sahota and Thiara I am from honesty and respect And from movie nights From sitting at the dinner table with my family I am from a Sikh temple I am from Binder and Joe From butter chicken and fish pakoras From immigration to Canada And from learning a new language From sleeping in my parent’s warm bed I am from those moments that made me who I am today
