Where My Heart Belongs

A home is more than walls and a roof. It’s a place where people care for me, where I can be accepted, loved, and myself. For example, in my home if I ever get scared, I have a family to protect me. It’s a place where all my memories are. These memories will shape the person I will become one day. All the photos on the walls represent the memories that my family and I have created together. There's lots of room left to be filled with more memories. My favorite memory is when my mom makes delicious breakfast with pancakes on Sundays for the whole family. This reminds me that a home is not just a physical building; it represents feelings of love, comfort, safety, and belonging. Maybe my house is not big or has fancy furniture, but that's not what matters. What really matters are the non-tangible things that make a house a special home. For example, doing homework with my mom or playing with my little brothers might be small moments, but they will always be remembered and special to me. Laughter is always there to fill the air even on days that are not the best. Like the day I cried when I lost my balloon, my little brother cheered me up by hugging me. Home is a treasure chest not filled with money or coins, it's filled with laughter, smiles, hugs, and encouragement. Home is where my heart belongs. However I know some people don’t have a beautiful place called home. That is why when I grow up, I dream to be a politician to help create access to housing for everyone. I plan to help people create memories in their own place called home.
