A Home

Sheet Harbour is my home and to others around. We are a part of the treaty people and the Indigenous Mi'kmaq culture. I love my home and every thing about it. A home It's more than a house or an apartment, it's where you build memories and have friendships with people you love and care about the most. A home My home has one bathroom, three bedrooms, one for my parents, one for my younger sister and one for me, a basement and an attic. A home In the bathroom I see myself. I look for second, I think of what I see and who I am as a person. But all that I can see is a strong, confident and beautiful human looking at me. A home In my room I lay in my bed. It's really warm and cozy and where I have my sweet, funny, comforting dreams. I feel the security and protection around me. It's also the place where I get dressed. Sometimes I question my style, but that's ok I shouldn't be afraid to be myself especially in. A home In the basement is where the furnace is. Even Though the fire is warm, it's really cold and dusty down there. It's also the place where memories are held. Old clothes and stuffed animals are in garbage bags waiting for one day to be played with and worn again. “Someday” they must think, “Someday I’ll be on my original owners' kids, then their kids and for so many generations. I’ll be loved.” A home There's nothing really in the attic, it's just really dark and cold. There used to be an old Elmo and toys up there but my parents sold them to new kids that would love them as much as me. A home I love my home and everything about it, yours might be small or really big but it doesn't matter about size, only the memories, love and laughter that fill it. I love every inch of my house, my room, the bathroom, the dark attic and even the dusty cold basement. I love my home and I hope you love yours too, and if you don't have a home I hope you do someday. A home
