A House isn't a Home but a Home can be a House
Everyone may think a house is a home, but yet it is not. You are able to buy a house, while a home isn't as easy to get. A home isn't just four walls and a roof, you might have four walls and a roof and some fancy furniture but if that is all a house has, it isn't a home yet. Although we all deserve to have a roof over our heads, no matter what we have or haven't done, a house needs to have trust, comfort and, most of all, love to become a home. It sure isn't easy to get a roof over our heads. But yet Habitat for Humanity, year after year, makes it possible for more people to have a home.
Baddeck is a great place to choose to build a home. Everywhere you go, like the post office, co-op, and even just when you drive around, it's a place where everyone cares for and loves each other. In Baddeck, we always make newcomers feel comfortable. Our village is a safe space that everyone can enjoy and feel welcomed. That's why when Habitat for Humanity builds a house, they are really making a home. It's made as a home, and not a house, because of the people that have come together to help them get a place to call home. That's what home means to me.
