The Meaning of Home
The Meaning of Home
By Harlie
This is what home means to me. For me, I like being comfortable, and that is either sitting on the couch with my family watching our favorite movies, family members over, reading books together and making memories. I also like family traditions, when Christmas time rolls around, me and my family start by decorating the Christmas tree, then I help decorate around the house with my parents, then I decorate my room and when we are going to Christmas dinner, we always go to my grandparent’s house, and we have the most delicious foods, and dessert is as special. We would have, apple crisp, our favorite ice cream and sometimes every berry crisp! I also love going over to my other grandparent’s house, we would watch movies with my aunt that she loved as a kid like Thumbelina, The Santa Clause, and some Harry Potter movies that I love. Safety to me is important, it’s knowing that my family is always there with me, or when there is a little or big storm, I like to be with them and that makes me feel safe even when we’re not at home, my home also makes me feel warm and safe through tough times. Emotions are what you can feel about a home, sometimes about good memories, like happy moments, sometimes sad moments, but most of all big family moments, those make a home special. What makes my home a home is the comfort of my family, spending family traditions together, the safety of being with my family, and being able to have fun with my siblings and be myself. In summary, a home isn’t just a roof, four walls, and a door around you. It’s a place where you feel special, loved, seen, be yourself, and make awesome memories. It may be fancy on the outside (or the inside), but what happens on the inside is what counts.
