Home is where you belong
A home to me lets you express your feelings and emotions. A home keeps them safe and locked-up in your heart.
In my home, I feel safe and sound just like a floating cloud, peacefully twirling around the sky. When I’m at home, I feel like I can do anything I put my mind to. I feel like everybody in it is encouraging me to do the best I can. In my home, I feel loved by everyone around me. Even if I make mistakes, or if I’m in a conflict with my sister or brother, I always feel LOVED.
At home, you don’t have to be fancy with a dress and a gown. You can be yourself. PJs or dress, sweats or shorts, you can be yourself because that is what a home is for. In my home, I have a sister to cheer me up when I’m sad, a brother who keeps me happy and entertained, a dad that teaches me so many things that I never knew about, and a lovely mom that looks just like me with a big smile and warm hugs and kisses. You don’t need family members to have a home. You just need yourself, memories, and love. In my home, the water from my tap reminds me of a raging river running through a forest. When I come to my home, I feel a soft cozy blanket that covers me from the cold of winter and a bed to help me fall asleep after a long day at school. In my home, I smell my dad’s homemade lasagna that is yelling to get out of the oven and my mom’s scrambled eggs that are “cracking up”.
A house may have four corners, a roof and a door, but home has a heart to appreciate. A house might be clean and have fancy decorations, but a home has laughter and joy to live and explore in. A house might have people, but a home has memories to keep us safe and sound. A home is where we BELONG!
Thank you Habitat for Humanity for building homes for people and families, and for making them with love.
