The Meaning of Home

Home. To me it’s always been a comforting word. But why? I mean, you always see those signs at the store saying things like, ‘‘Home is my happy place’’ and ‘‘ home is where the heart is,’’ but people never stop to think twice about it. About how true it is. About how it really is their happy place, and how it really is where the heart is. But, the funny thing about those signs is that it never mentions a house. It’s always a home. Because a house is just one little structure compared to the whole world. But it’s really the people that are your whole world. It’s the people that make that house your home, and all of the happy times you share with them. Like when you come home from a long day at school or work, and your family, friends, and loved ones are there. They make you feel like home. The feeling of home is the best feeling in the world. It’s the feeling of love, and knowing that you belong right where you are. Home, to me, isn’t about the house you live in, whether it’s big or small. It’s about the loved ones you share it with that truly make it a home. So thank you to my mom, dad, sister, friends, nana and papa and even my two brothers for turning my house into a home. Everybody deserves a home.
