The Journey Between Home and Me

When I step through the door Memories flood my mind Just that one hallway holds emotions That shines through into my body When I step through into the living room Trust and togetherness gleams as bright as the sun Just one room can be equivalent to a lifetime The kitchen could have bare walls and bland tile But it’s where true beauty shines The kitchen holds memories, memories as strong as a heart beat When I step into the bedroom I feel warmth A landscape truly designed by me. Where I can choose what to do. The yard is where I feel most comfort, You could have an acre of land and do nothing but stare But in my home? Just a yard holds some of my favorite memories Just in that yard is where I scored my first soccer goal And celebrated with my mom and friends Just that one night was something that could make my day My mom is a big part of my home Through thick and thin she stood by my side To lowest point in life she got me through it all with her gleaming smile To the point of tears she always found something to do that made me giggle And my father, he gleamed with love He was always someone to talk to, in the rare moments when I could see him, We would bond over star wars and who was our favorite character If I needed a hug, he was the person I would look to He shined so bright His heart was truly made of gold Gold that can’t be bought
