My Home

What is home? Is it just the place where we sleep, Or the voices that echo our laughter? Is it the space where my darkest fears creep, Or the light that pulls me back after? Home may look different for you and for me, But here are five things that make it special to me. Home is home because of my family, They turn four brick walls into a sanctuary. My parents’ love is steady and true, A place where I’m safe, no matter what I do. Though my brothers tease and make me frown, They’d never let the world tear me down. My colorful home will warm your heart, Though from the outside, it may look dark. The pictures, paintings, and plants take their place, Holding memories no time can erase. Food plays a huge role in my home, It gathers us close, no words need be spoken. The taste, the smell—warmth fills the air, A silent reminder that love lingers there. The kitchen is more than where meals are made, It’s where laughter is shared and memories are laid. Culture and tradition shape who I am inside, Who I am, where I'm from—a truth I hold with pride. Each night we gather to talk and pray, Grateful for blessings that colored our day. We tell stories of lands both distant and old, Of ancestors’ journeys and legends retold. The feeling of belonging blooms within home, Where love surrounds and warmth is known. Each time I step through that familiar space, I find comfort, security—a cherished embrace. I cozy up in my room, the day drifting away, Grateful for a home that’s mine in every way. With comfort around me, I finally rest, Knowing that everyone deserves a place to feel blessed.
