Meaning of Home
I walk through the front door and make my way towards the table. As my family is enjoying themselves playing cards, I can grab chips, candy, and maybe some ice cream if it's a hot day. I feel the soft blankets covering my body as I lie down on the couch and watch some television. In the living room, the laughter fills my head, and my grandma stands in the kitchen preparing our next delicious meal.
In the morning I wake up to my mom saying “ It’s time to go to school! Wake up.” She uses a soft sweet voice every morning. Home is a place where I feel safe and have a roof over my head and be provided with food.
Home is where I can get all the food I need when I’m hungry and no one would get mad at me. When I'm home I am loved and understood. Home means somewhere no one would judge me and the people surrounding me understand me, who I am, and what I believe in. Home is where I can enjoy the food my mother or grandma has made while laughing and sharing my thoughts about our conversations.
Home is a place where we belong and where we are surrounded by people we love and who understand us and doesn't judge us for who we are. All homes are different and that’s what makes us special. We all come from different backgrounds and ethnicities, everyone's family is different, but one thing that is the same about us is that we all have a home we can go back to, and in that home there are people who understand and care about us. My home is where I feel safe and enjoy my time with family.
