The Changing Seasons Of My Home

With the cold gust of wind at my back, I enter through the front door of my home. I feel the cozy warmth of the fire and hear the crackle of the wood burning. I race up the stairs as fast as a cheetah and find myself enveloped by the smell of gooey peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. Rushing over to the stove , I dive into the sweet, chocolatey cookie. Begging for crumbs, is my adoring labradoodle Barkley. I bend down and burrow my face in her soft fur. The weather is getting warmer, and the daffodils are in full bloom. In the living room, looking out the windows, the sun is casting its light over the ocean and yard. The waves are an angry lion, frothing and thrashing. I smell the salty air from the ocean coming in from the open window. My cheek rests on the cool glass, as I hear the distant blast of a ship’s horn. School’s finally out! I run outside to the sundeck and feel the blazing hot sun on my face. Embracing the sun for a few minutes, my gaze zooms in on our vegetable garden full of fresh fruit and vegetables growing in the soil. There is basil, strawberries, tomatoes, peas and beets. I graze in the garden to make myself a harvest lunch. It’s nearing Halloween and the leaves on the trees are gold, red, orange and brown. I wander down the hall to my room, that’s like stepping into giant purple lilac. The walls are a pale mauve and the ceilings are as white as the clouds. Splashes of colour dance around the room. Laying on my bed, I begin to feel sleepy. The warm blankets and comfortable mattress make my eyelids heavy. I fall asleep to the scent of pumpkin seeds roasting in the oven.
