The Meaning of Home To Me

Home means to be loved and to feel safe and appreciated. It is the warmth of your family and friends or the taste of your homemade food hot chocolate or maybe it’s the feeling of being with the person or people that you love. Everybody has different views of home. For me it’s the sound of the fish tank in my room and the taste of hot chocolate and cookies. When I think of home I can see my mom cooking dinner in the kitchen and the smell of it. Sometimes I see my entire family on the couch watching a movie on Friday. I see myself in my bed reading a book covered with a blanket and cuddling with my cat. I can see snow falling on the ground in the winter. I see me and my mom reading in her room with my dog. Home is not just my house, it’s the place that I feel loved and cared for and the place that I grew up in. I feel the warmth of my home and family. Home is where you are flipping through memories and spending time with the people you love. It is where you will grow up and who you’ll grow up with. When I think of home I smell my dads strong hair shampoo and the smell of my dog after he gets a bath and wet dog hair does not smell good, anyway when I think of home I feel the warmth of being loved and cared for. I grew up in Alberta and have lived there for my whole life and I have never moved so it has always felt like home to me. Just because you don’t have a house doesn’t mean you don’t have a home in your heart.
