Home is a Feeling to Me
Home means to me...
The clicking of the paws,
and the sound of the dog toys squeaking.
A warm, soft, sleepy dog sitting beside me,
watching the birds and squirrels,
chattering as they play.
The squirrel's losing their peanuts to the blue jays,
so I save one peanut,
just for them.
Home means to me...
Being provided with so many types of foods,
and always being encouraged to try them.
Growing our own food at home,
so it will be fresher, and we can create so many different dishes.
Home means to me...
Staying days and nights at grandparent’s houses,
hearing the sound of coffee beans being ground in the morning.
Smelling the scent of hand-made pizza, and spaghetti.
Home means to me...
Knowing that I have people in my life that love me,
and want to give me all they can.
They help me learn a lot about nature and the world.
Being able to learn freely, and try many new hobbies.
Home means to me...
The sound of a melody being beautifully played,
by my mom on smooth white keys,
encouraging me to play it too.
The sound of golden strings being gently strung,
but making a wonderful song.
Hearing the sound of laughter,
while gathering at the kitchen table playing a board game,
or sitting with my family on the couch watching movies.
Home means to me...
Being able to go outside and explore the woods.
hearing the leaves fall,
the crunching of my boots in the snow.
The munching of the squirrels,
and the birds singing their own unique tune.
Home is a place that encourages me to be curious,
open minded, and I can also be with the people I love and trust.
Home is not an idea to me,
It is a feeling.
