My Home Is My Home
My Home Is My Home
By Neia
My home is an extraordinary place. Having a house is nice but having a home is better. It's just like having a safe sanctuary. Home isn't, and doesn't, have to be a building, it could be a person or somewhere you feel safe. For me, my home is loud, exciting, and cheerful. Some homes might be quiet and calm, we are all different in a way of our own. When I'm in public, it feels like I'm on a stage where I think people are watching me and I need to be a certain way but home is where I can be free, silly, and creative without anyone judging.
Everyday when I arrive home I always hear my baby brother say, “Hi ate (ah teh)!” or my dad says, “How's your day Beebabs?” It makes me feel special and is the highlight of my day. On hockey nights, I always hear “YAY” or “No!” , maybe a “Get the puck in!!!”. It's always fun to just hangout while a hockey game is happening!
The sounds of my home soothe me. The sound of snoring helps me sleep. It is like a personal white noise machine! Sometimes in the middle of the night my little brother Beau wakes up crying. Sometimes it wakes me up, but most of the time I sleep through it. These are the comforting sounds of my home
On weekends my dad wakes me up by saying, “I made breakfast!”. When I finally get myself out of bed and open my door, I open it to the delicious aroma of crispy hashbrowns and eggs. Before eating, my family prays and then we gobble up the delicious food! My dad’s cooking is fabulous! My family and I love to watch movies together. Sometimes we order takeout. During the movie we often laugh, scream, flinch or cry. My dad and I like to stay up late on the weekend’s and hang out after my mom and my brother go to sleep. Family movie nights are my favourite nights! I'm grateful for my family and my home. I think everyone deserves a home. A home is a special place everyone should have.
