This is my home

My name is Maisie Connors. I'm in grade six and this is my journey from a house to a home. When I was younger I used to live in Saskatchewan with my parents. When I was one my family moved from Saskatchewan to Alberta. We lived in Calgary until I was two then we moved to Fort Sask. It was a nice town like Petrolia but more developed. There were lots of stores and restaurants . We had a huge house and a pond in the backyard. We would go skating on it a lot. Then my mum and dad got a divorce I was just about five. My dad kept the house but my mum got custody of my younger sister and I. Sometimes I wonder if he wanted the house more than my sister and I. Soon after we had a new house and just new everything. Everyday was amazing in my new house. I loved it. Even though I felt a lot of pressure to be the best. Then when summer came around that year we came here to Ontario and visited my grandma the entire time. I found a liking to baseball that year.it felt like home. Later that summer my mother asked me if I would be okay to move here. I was ecstatic. Moving in with my grandma is what I thought. The next summer I had to get two teeth removed before leaving for Ontario. It was a hot summer so we had to sleep downstairs. The next morning I woke up and my mum told me that we were on the plane.I was so excited I could not sleep. Once we landed and gathered all of our belongings my grandma told me we were heading home. And she was right. As soon as I got there it felt like home not a house where I felt safe and happy I enjoyed being home. It was not a house, it was a home. Now 4 years later my mum, sister and I are planning on buying a new home. Not a house. Now that I'm older I understand that wherever I was the adults and family around me made everything feel like home but now it is. That's why home is so important. Everyone deserves one to feel how I feel.
