A Place I Call Home
Home is a place we come when we're born
This place is ours, the rose and the thorn.
I know in my heart that this is my life
I’ll have it forever until I die.
Home is a place we love and survive
Around the fire side by side.
Our hearts are warm with the full moon light
We have each other day and night.
Home is a place full of memories and love
We are united like turtle doves.
We be who we are and we belong
We learn our lessons right from wrong.
Home is a place where I feel joy
I can run and dash without a toy.
You don't need chairs, you don't need tables
You don't need wires, you don’t need cables.
Homes can come and homes can go
Homes can change and homes can grow.
Your home might not be what you predicted
But you can change it, it will never be restricted.
A house might be filled with fancy chairs
Or have a lounge with comfy stairs.
It might be big, it might be small
It might have a roof or a chimney that's tall.
Even if my family were away
On vacation or at the cafe.
I have the memories, I have the thoughts
I have pictures that help a lot.
Thank you Habitat for Humanity for building a house
At first, it might feel like a warehouse.
But we think of our hearts as building tools
This is our life, we make our own rules.
Think of your life as climbing a hill
Along the way you won't stand still.
Then you might find a nice place to stay
And maybe you’ll call it your home some day.
