House vs Home

Did you know that about 235,000 Canadians experience some form of homelessness every year. From living in tent cities, cars, and on the streets with all of this happening in your local area. But there's a nonprofit organization called habitat for humanity trying to make an impact by giving people a place to call home all around Canada. We are learning the importance of house vs home. A home isn't just a structure, it's a place with family, friends, and memories from over the years. This is why I believe that you can be yourself when home, a home is special to you and your family, and a house and home are two very different things. You can be yourself when home. Home is always a safe space where you can make mistakes, be silly and overall just express yourself. That's because I can feel more comfortable around my friends and family as it's an environment I'm used to. When you're at home you're closed off from the pressure of the outside world. When home you will always feel more comfortable around the people you love. A home is special to you and your family. Your home might mean nothing to me but mine is perfect to me and my family. For example, something special to me is getting greeted by my dog after school everyday or having movie night with my family. Even though our houses might look the same on the outside, it's the home inside that matters. In your home you will always make memories that make your home special and unique to you. A house and a home are two very different things. A house can protect you from weather, or give you privacy but it can't protect you from emotions where a home can. Your house is only the bones of your home and your family's heart. When you're home you might see pictures on the wall or colorful items. Where a random empty house is almost depressing, just full empty walls and no memories. In the end a house and home are two very different things. This writing piece has made me realize how appreciative of home I am. Knowing that I have a place where I can be safe, where I'm loved, and somewhere I can always go when I need to because there's always people I can rely on. It's nice to know that my home can always come with me anywhere no matter where I go.
