If the Walls Could Talk

Memories of the past flood through the space, There’s never a moment you can't feel their warm embrace, They held me in their arms as i grew from a sleeping baby in a crib, to a toddler who tries to always tell the truth, never fib, They’ve watched lifelong memories be made, And kept me safe, they make a place i don't have to be afraid, Seen a 6 year old hosting a birthday party at home, filled with presents, smiles and kids that roam, They provided warmth from the winds harsh cold, They stood there strong not ever going to be sold, Too many memories keep it in place, There are memories everywhere, no empty space, A place you'll never forget, Or a new place you’ve never met, Filled with little things from here or there, Each one holds a memory, that's one thing they share On some days they keep us dry, From the pouring clouds, Oh so high, While behind the windows we watch the thunderous storm, Sitting on the couch with a blanket comfy and together From the pathway to my home to the darkest corner of the basement, There’s nothing I would change about the placement Memories are the beauty of time, They truly are quite divine, That’s one thing that makes a house a home, And not just a place that you can roam, Everyone deserves a place to feel they belong, At the end of every day that seems so long, A place to feel truly understood, And everyone should. Home is more than a place, but a feeling, Not just empty rooms and a ceiling, They watched a little girl learn how to walk, They would tell you everything if the walls could talk.
