Home
You may think a home is just four walls and a roof, but it’s a lot more than that.
A home can be anywhere. It can be a feeling, smell, taste or even a person. A home can be anything that makes you feel safe, understood, loved and it's a place where you can express yourself.
A home can be the delightful scent of a home cooked meal while eating dinner with your family. A home can also be lying in your bed, reading a book while drinking delicious hot chocolate. To me a home is a place where I can escape the chaotic world and just feel special, free and safe.
A place my mom calls home is the beach. She calls it home because she was born by the ocean. My mom feels safe when she hears waves crashing and laughter all around. She feels joyful when she smells salt in the air, and she feels loved when she sees people all around her laughing and having fun.
A thing I call home is nature. Sometimes just lying in the grass under the sun just calms me. It makes me feel safe and understood. I feel like I can just be me. Nature is a safe space where everything is peaceful and still. I don’t know why I cherish nature so much, but- it just feels like home.
So, home is always there whether it’s a feeling, smell, sound, taste, thing, place or person. It will always be there. Just always remember a home is never just four walls and a roof. It’s a place in your heart.
