The Meaning of Home

Homes might be described in many different ways, come in various colours and built in diverse shapes. However, we all equally love these sentimental places. It could be a house where a great childhood lived, a town where familiar things were painted with affectionate memories or a spot where spirits of loved ones lingered. For me, home is with my parents where my heart lives. Every part of my home is infused with warm memories of my childhood. Hatching blue jay eggs in the infamous tree house, baking sweet chocolate chip cookies and opening Santa’s gifts under the Christmas tree are some of the precious moments that I cherished with my parents. The spot that I hold dear the most is the ragged sofa in the family room where my mom embraced me with comforting hugs and kind words when I had a bad day. My family enjoys Erwin Beach every year. We go through a green forest filled with Laurel trees in our garden, a small creek where salmon fries hide under the rocks and red rose bushes by the path leading to the beach. Salty ocean air tingles our noses as we collect colourful shells and create sand castles. It truly is a beautiful place. This beach also has fond memories of my grandfather who was the master of games. He adored playing games with me. As soon as we arrived at the beach, games began immediately. Games such as hide and seek often continued into the house. I can still hear our laughter echoing throughout the house. My home is where we share love, happiness, joy, sorrow and hope. My parents are the center of my whole world. My home was, is and will always be where my family is.
