What Home Means to Me

When I moved into a new house 5 years ago, I was not the same person I was before and it did not feel like home. It felt different. I started to cry every night for days and months because I moved and the house did not feel like home. I left my old friendship behind and I would never see them ever again. The only thing that felt the same was my family, but a lot has changed. Originally, I was the one who wanted to move because my home was small. When the move finally happened, I was not sure anymore because this new house would be closer to my cousins but farther away from my old friends. Looking back, I have so many memories of my old home. One of them was my cousin calling my mom’s phone, asking, “Let's go on a walk!” I would be so happy when I heard, “Krishn, do you want to go on a walk with your cousins?” The answer was always YES! The sweetest memory was my 6th birthday. All the people I invited came and we had a great time. That is something I wish I would never forget. Not to forget, the smells I can recall when my dad was cooking fish, my mom and my aunt making pakora and samosa, butter chicken and naan. while me and my cousin were watching Youtube with my parents looking over us. After all, that felt like home. Right now, my house is starting to feel like home as I started to make memories by spending more time with my family and new friends. A home is so much more than having a space with four walls around it.
