The Feeling of Home
Hello! My name is Tigger the cat. This is how I found home.
Our story starts in a humble barn, where I was born. I lived there with my two siblings whom I loved dearly even when we didn't get along. That's one of the best things about home, even when we don't agree, we love each other nonetheless. In that barn I always felt safe from the dangers of the outside world. That’s another part of what home means, you feel safe and listened to. In my home I never felt lonely even when my siblings excluded me; my mother was there to comfort me. Home is where someone is always there for you. My home was not a house; there are many ways for a place to be home.
What happened next? Well now it gets weird. It all started one regular morning when I was woken up by the crowing of the rooster. Then our human started acting all excited and saying “You're getting adopted today!” “What is adopted?” I wondered. They picked me up along with one of my sisters and put us in carriers. That was when I realised I was leaving my home. Suddenly, I saw a woman with a kind smile approaching. She said “Thank you” to my human and brought us to her car, where her daughters waited eagerly. My sister and I were in separate carriers. We were both alone in a strange place and meowed miserably. The new humans were kind and moved us together. I was absolutely jubilant to be with my sister again! My last thought before drifting off to sleep was that home is not a place but a feeling.
A feeling I felt all over again curled up with my new human who named me Tigger.
