Not Everyone Has a House
Home means family; a loving and caring family. Home means laughter. Maybe for you it means your dad telling you dad jokes. My dad does that all the time. Or maybe for you it means relaxing on your super soft couch or your reclinable chair reading your favourite book. My favorite book is Harry Potter. Maybe it is playing a family game with all your family. We do that when we have a big Christmas or Thanksgiving gathering with all my grandparents. I actually have seven grandparents! Three on my dad’s side and four on my mom’s side. But we usually play a simple boring game like dice because my great grandparents are kind of old so it's hard for them to learn a new game. A home is support from your family like… “Way to go” or… “You got this”... Or maybe, “Wow that was great!” or “Don’t worry you're almost there, keep going.” Yes, a home is a family, not a house.
But just think if you had to choose between a house and food how hard that would be for your family. One in eight people in Canada have to make that decision. That means three people in our class of 25 would have to decide!
So that's why I'm doing the best I can to help because I'm really lucky. I actually have a house and I know helping others is what God wants from me. So just make sure you think about all those families that can't afford a home because they have to use their only money to pay for food or child care. So remember that even though a home is not just a house, think about what you would do without one.
