There’s No Place Like Home

Have you ever heard the saying “There’s no place like home”? Well, what is home? For starters, let me tell you what home means to me. Home is a safe place. A warm, welcoming area where nothing is in the way of your happiness. You might think that home is just any ordinary house, but it’s more than that, it’s your resting place. Home could be your family or your squishy, fluffy stuffed bear. Home could be anywhere that you feel the peace of still and silence. It doesn’t have to be quiet in your ‘Home’ it can be your radio or boombox. Some people don’t even have a decent house. And by some I mean, 1 IN 8 people. That’s a whole EIGHTH out of over 400,000,000 (four hundred million) PEOPLE. Everyone should have a home, but jobs and low wages will not permit them to. High prices are also a factor in the reasons why people can’t afford a decent house. This is why we need to support the needy and help the homeless. “The poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, ‘You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy, in your land.’ ” Deuteronomy 15:11 NASB. This is what the Bible says about helping the needy and giving an open arm to support the poor. We are on a journey that the poor ones are in too and we shouldn’t compete with others but we should all know that Jesus loves us.
