I am From...

I am from the smell of pig poo in southern Manitoba. From Labrador snow and the lakes of Ontario. I am from the tall grass and the flax fields whose long limbs I remember as if they were my own. I am from Christmas-Eve dinner and football fans From distant cousins and family. From double dipping and binge watching. I am from “tooth bugs” and “don’t eat upside down” and “rain rain go away.” I am from Sunday-supper. I am from Winnipeg and Denmark and shepherds pie and crepes. From Goose Bay snow that rose to the roof and sledding down “mount Everest”. I am from home.
