Meaning of home contest
Home to me is more than 4 walls and a roof. To me the walls are filled with happy memories and bad
times that we got through. To me even the roof is holding in massive amounts of joy and love, but it
also shelters me from the cool nights when all I need is a warm blanket and some hot chocolate. Home
is where nobody will judge you and it’s where you can be the weird, funny or loving whenever you want
but you won’t be made fun of. Home can be the safe place where you can hide after you had the worst
day. I am so thankful for my home and my family that loves me so much, and how many opportunity’s
that I have and have had.
This year I am so excited to get a chance to give 30,000 dollars to a local Habitat for Humanity so they
can make living affordable for all people. So they can make memories with their family or community
and so they can fill their house full of joy and love. A house is a warm place in the cold winter. I am so
thankful for my house were I can come home from school and even if I am mad because I did bad on a
test or if I just had the best day of my life, it is my safe place.
I am so happy that habitat for humanity is raising money to build affordable houses for everybody so
they have their safe place. So when they just had the worst day of their lives or just got a new job they
can celibate or have a place to be emotional. It amazes me that our class alone can raise $250 for
habitat for humanity. Now think of how much we can raise by just donating $10, that could be the $10
that they need to put in a new light. Also if you are 18 or older consider giving some of your help to build
an affordable house for the community.
This month my school was talking about the community and the common good and habitat for humanity
is an amazing way to help your local community. I am so excited to know that my entry could build a
safe descent affordable home for someone to call their own. Even if you can’t donate, giving your time
can mean as much to the community as donating $10. Especially now when in this time of war a lot of
people’s communities are being destroyed and one donation could be the help they need to get back on
their feet.
