What Home Means to Me
Home, is a vast concept.
Is it where you feel content?
Where you know accept?
The place your loved ones are?
It’s all of them!
But to me, it’s quite simple.
It’s where I feel that rush of warm air, stepping inside on cold winter nights,
Wafts of heartwarming spices stepping into the kitchen, full of invite.
Choruses of laughter, joyous dinners alight,
That feeling of relief, coming home from long school days.
Sounds of chatter, as I laze on Saturdays,
Waking from my warm bed, feeling the possibility of today.
Home is different for everyone.
But every home should be one,
Where the people who protect us but also give teachings for success are nearest
Home is where we’re educated of our wrongdoings,
But still loved as someone’s dearest
Home is a place where we’re believed in and cheered on
By the people who shelter us, but also show us the world we live on
Home reflects upon the unique personality of ourselves, but also builds who we are.
Here, the values in this household are the values we live by.
Here, we learn to be proud of the culture that courses through our veins.
Here, we learn to recognize our identity.
So,
What really is the purpose, the meaning, of home?
In my opinion, it’s where we feel loved, and complete.
Every home is just a house made of mere concrete,
Until it is filled with the love and support by the family that it meets.
I believe,
Every family should be able to have a decent home.
Where they can live and laugh, learn and grow
I believe,
Habitat for Humanity is not only helping families find homes,
But putting more love in the world.
