Home
To me, a home is somewhere you feel safe and loved. A home is somewhere you feel accepted and somewhere you can be yourself.
My home is special because it is filled with supportive and kind people. Although sometimes these people can make me upset, and do things that I don't like. It always ends up fine. There are people who care about me and my well-being and will guide me through my life and keep me away from making any mistakes.
My house smells of traditional food like Biryani and Nihari. That taste makes it feel more like my hometown, Karachi.
Hearing your own language and speaking your own language also makes it feel like we never immigrated here.
The couches in my house are very old. They are from my previous home and remind me of good times. Feeling those soft couches also makes it feel like home.
I see my pet bird and it makes me feel happy. Talking to her makes me feel happy. It makes me feel at home. We're going to sell her soon so I don't know how much of a home I will live in but for now, seeing her makes me at home.
Every single person or even animal in this world deserves a home. Everyone deserves that special place where they have family to take care of them. There are so many stray animals around the world. Especially in Pakistan, there are so many stray dogs and cats walking around. Most are injured or have some kind of condition. No one to help them. No one really cares either. Seeing all of those animals makes me feel sad, but at the same time, there is nothing I can do for them because I'm all the way across the world. Some homeless people have pets that they have befriended but they end up having to let them go since they have no shelter for them. They also don't have enough money to buy themselves food and water so there's no way they can buy stuff for their pets.
This is what I think home means, why my home is special, and the things that make it that way. Also how every single being on this earth deserves homes just like we do.
