Did you know that there are about 150,000 to 300,000 homeless people in Canada? What is even more discouraging is that 35,000 to 40,000 are kids. This is why I am thankful for my home because in my home I am safe, I learn, and I am comfortable. Home is a place where I am safe. At home I am loved by my parent's warm sweet hugs that I get every single day. When they hug me like this, I feel very comfortable and relaxed because I love my parents and I know they love me. This feeling of safety feels like I am wrapped in a warm blanket. Home is also a place where I learn. At home I learn by discovering new things like baking fresh gingerbread cookies, mastering skills just like baking will boost my confidence and increase my happiness. This allows me to enjoy time with my family, and it will decrease my boredom. Lastly when I think of home I think of comfort. This is because when most people imagine a home they think of a bed. Now think about a warm blanket, soft fluffy pillows, sweetdreams, and huggable teddy bears. I know that reminds me of home. I am very thankful for my bed and the comfort it brings me. All these reasons and many more are why I am very thankful for my home. I hope during this essay you thought about how many Canadians are not safe, comfortable, and some cannot get proper education. This is why I am extremely fortunate to call these 4 walls around me “home”.
