The Meaning of Home - What I Learned from a Camping Trip

As my mom hastily packed the sleeping bags for our camping trip, I went to find my bug spray. My family all knows that I hate camping because of the uncomfortableness, the mosquitos, hiking, wild animals, and the feeling of leaving home in general. Subsequently after we left the house, I realized that the campsite was 3 hours away so I had no choice but to sleep my way through. Once we arrived, I grasped after looking at the awful campsite. The campsite had a lack of privacy and it had unsafe terrain. If we had just stayed home, watching hilarious movies, feeling the warmth of the heater, drinking hot coco, and being with family, we would have excluded the entire trip. I was also pondering if this was how all the homeless people have to experience, with no home, mere money, and relentless coldness. To make things worse, I saw a monstrous wolf spider. While the spider had a sinister stare, I felt like my stomach was going to explode like a nuclear bomb. Later, we went on a huge hike in the forest. A few hours passed, while we were heading our way down the hill, we stumbled onto a black bear. Once the bear started moving away, my family all started hugging each other. I realized that home isn’t just about having a roof under your head, it’s about family and being having someone with you. I would have never survived this camping trip without my family. Do you hate camping and having the feeling of emptily leaving home?
