Home is about kindness. You can give, knowing people will always be giving to you. Home is about being lifted up when you're down in the depths of a sea of sadness or anger. Home is about lifting up others when they need it just as they would do to you. The smell of cookies being made, to share. The delicious aroma wafting through the house, filling it with happiness. The taste as the fresh baked cookies are being shared around the fireplace. The sound of music lifting through everyone and surrounding them in an aura of kindness and fullness. This is home. Home is about safety. The feeling that you can't be touched by anything. You are protected. In order for that protection to fill your home like an ocean it must be universal and shared by everyone. The smell of chicken being baked for dinner brings safety. The touch of your pillow against you while you sleep. The sound of parents talking outside in the living room as you sleep. The place where you can let out your emotions, anger, fear and embarrassment. You are surrounded by a bubble of safety that surrounds you, your family and your home. This is home. Home is about giving. By giving, others feel the bubble of safety, the warmth, not having to worry about the cold touch of winter. The feel of a blanket to protect you on a bitter winter day. Not having to worry about moving miles and miles just to get what you need to survive. Giving a smile costs little but pays much. A small act of kindness can make a home a home if we all join together each with our small building block to create it. This is home.
